FAQ
Using FileNeatAI, pricing and privacy
What is FileNeatAI?
FileNeatAI is a desktop AI file organizer. It reads the content of every file in a folder, sorts the files into matching folders, and can bulk rename files with meaningless names based on what is inside them. It runs on Windows, macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon) and Ubuntu Linux.
Is FileNeatAI free?
New users get 100 free credits. With online models, each organized file uses one credit. Credits never expire, and you can buy more on the pricing page when you need them.
What file types can it organize?
Documents: md, txt, pdf, ppt, pptx, html, docx and xlsx. Images: jpg, jpeg, png, gif, svg and webp. With local models, images can be sorted by OCR text extraction or with the llava vision model.
What if I am not happy with the result?
Adjust your prompt keywords and run it again as many times as you like until the folders look right. Renaming can be regenerated the same way.
How do I bulk rename files with garbled names?
Drag the files into FileNeatAI, pick a naming mode and enter a prompt. FileNeatAI reads each file and generates a new name from its content.
Are my files uploaded?
With online models, file content is sent to cloud AI providers such as Kimi or ChatGPT for analysis. With local models, your files never leave your computer. For sensitive files, use a local model.
Can I use it offline?
Yes. Once local model support is unlocked, you can connect local LLMs such as Ollama or LM Studio and organize files completely offline without using credits. Packages that unlock local models also include a permanent offline License file.
Can I use my own API?
Yes. The local model feature also supports custom third-party API endpoints.
I got a new computer. What happens to my credits?
Enter the machine codes of the old and new computers on the Transfer License page to move your remaining credits and license to the new computer. Each machine code can take part in at most 3 transfers per calendar month.
